# Preview and publish a draft

> Every FigWP import is a draft. See how to preview it, what publishing through your AI app does, and how to keep pages out of search until they are ready.

Nothing FigWP imports goes live by itself. A page lands as a draft, you look at it, and publishing is a request of its own that your AI app only makes when you say so.

## Preview

The app returns the draft's edit link after import. Open it in Elementor for the full editor, or use WordPress's own **Preview** from the Pages list. The app can also ask the site for a short-lived preview link that renders just that draft, with no admin bar; the link expires after ten minutes and works for nothing else on the site.

## Publish

Tell the app to publish the page. It can only publish a draft FigWP created, and the page's status becomes published exactly as if you had clicked **Publish** in WordPress: the site's own hooks, caches and SEO plugin run as usual.

If you would rather publish yourself, open the page in WordPress and click **Publish**. FigWP does not need to be involved.

## Keeping a page private

Leave it as a draft. Drafts are invisible to visitors and to search engines. There is no FigWP setting for this because WordPress already has one.

## Troubleshooting

**The app will not publish.** Its permission to publish may have been declined when the app was connected, or the page is not a FigWP draft. Check the connection on the dashboard's **Connect AI** page, or publish from WordPress.

**The published page looks different from the draft.** The site's theme, caching or an optimisation plugin applies to published pages. Clear the site's cache first.
