What FigWP is: a Figma frame, your AI app, and a draft Elementor page

FigWP turns a selected Figma frame into an Elementor page built from Essential Addons widgets, through Claude or ChatGPT, imported to your site as a draft.

In this article

FigWP is a way to get a page out of Figma and into WordPress without rebuilding it. You select a frame, ask Claude or ChatGPT to convert it, and a draft page built from Essential Addons widgets appears on your site, ready to edit in Elementor. This post is the short version of how it works, what it is not, and where it stands today.

The three pieces

The FigWP plugin in Figma. Install it once, paste the access token from your dashboard, and leave it open. It reads the frame you have selected and runs the conversion inside Figma, so your design is never uploaded anywhere just to be looked at. The install guide has the steps.

Your AI app. Claude, Claude Desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT, or any app that speaks MCP. You add FigWP as a custom connector, sign in, and from then on the app can read your selection, check your site and ask FigWP for work. Connecting an app takes about two minutes.

FigWP Connect on your site. It is part of Essential Addons Pro, not a separate plugin. From Essential Addons → Tools → FigWP you link the site to your account, and from then on the AI app can import drafts there. Connecting a site is one button and one approval.

What happens when you ask

Say something like “convert the frame I have selected into a draft page on my site”. The app reads the frame’s layers, runs FigWP’s analysis (fonts, auto layout, images, size, cost), and then does the one thing only an AI app can do well: it decides, for each section, which Essential Addons widget it is. A hero with a two-tone heading becomes a Dual Color Heading. Three cards become three Info Boxes. A quote with dots under it becomes a Testimonial Slider.

FigWP checks each choice against its widget catalog, then the plugin’s converters build the Elementor content from the layers. That is the part worth understanding: the AI never writes Elementor JSON. The converters do, from the design alone, which is why a conversion is repeatable and why a widget that cannot hold its section’s text is dropped rather than shipped half empty. How sections become widgets goes deeper.

The page lands as a draft. Images are copied into your media library. Nothing is published until you say so.

What it is not

It does not generate HTML or CSS. It does not need you to tag layers or export anything by hand. It does not publish on its own. And it does not meter the AI: the thinking happens on your Claude or ChatGPT plan, so FigWP charges only for pages imported to a site, with fixes and re-imports of that page free. The pricing page has the plans.

Where it stands

FigWP is in beta. The dashboard, the plugin and the MCP server are live, and the free plan is open. FigWP Connect ships in an upcoming Essential Addons Pro release; until it does, the beta runs by invitation with the connector installed by hand. If you build sites with Elementor and Essential Addons and would like in, sign up and reply to the welcome email.

The docs cover everything above in detail, and the changelog will carry each release as it goes out.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Figma plugin and a WordPress plugin?

Yes, both, and an AI app. The FigWP plugin runs in Figma and reads your selection. FigWP Connect is a module inside Essential Addons Pro on your WordPress site. Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP app ties them together through the FigWP MCP server.

Does the AI write the page?

No. The AI chooses which Essential Addons widget each section becomes and asks for the work. FigWP's own converters write every Elementor setting, so the same design converts the same way every time.

What does it cost?

You pay per page imported to a site. The free plan has three pages for life. The AI runs on your own Claude or ChatGPT plan, so FigWP sells no credits.
