Connect Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP app

Add the FigWP MCP server to Claude, Claude Desktop, Claude Code or ChatGPT as a custom connector, sign in, and approve what the app may do.

Your AI app does the asking and the deciding: it reads the frame through the plugin, picks a widget for each section, and imports the page to your site. It reaches FigWP through the FigWP MCP server, which you add to the app once as a custom connector. This page is about that connection. Connecting the plugin in Figma is a separate step, and so is connecting a WordPress site.

The server URL

The FigWP MCP server is at:

https://api.figwp.app/api/mcp

The same URL is on the dashboard’s Connect AI page with a copy button, and inside the plugin under How it works.

Claude (claude.ai)

  1. Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it FigWP and paste the server URL.
  3. Click Add, then Connect. A FigWP page opens: sign in if you are not, read what the app asks for, and click Connect.
  4. In a chat, open the tools menu and make sure FigWP is turned on.

Claude Desktop

Connectors you add on the web appear in the desktop app too. To add one here instead:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it FigWP and paste the server URL.
  3. Click Add, then Connect, and approve the access in the browser window that opens.

Claude Code

  1. Run this in your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http figwp https://api.figwp.app/api/mcp
  2. Start Claude Code, type /mcp, choose figwp and Authenticate.
  3. Approve the access in the browser window that opens.

ChatGPT

  1. Open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Back in Apps & Connectors, choose Create.
  3. Name it FigWP, paste the server URL as the MCP server URL and choose OAuth for authentication.
  4. Click Create, sign in to FigWP and approve the access. In a chat, turn on FigWP under the + menu.

Menus move between app versions. If a step does not match, look for Connectors or MCP in the app’s settings.

What you approve

The approval page lists what the app may do: read your account and plan, read the frame you select in Figma, make an auto-layout copy of a frame, write draft pages to your connected sites, and publish a draft. Every app gets the same set; what it actually does is up to what you ask it. The details, and how to revoke an app, are in Permissions and security.

Check that it works

Open the FigWP plugin in Figma, select a frame, and ask the app:

Convert the frame I have selected in Figma into a new draft page on my WordPress site, using Essential Addons widgets.

If no site is connected yet, the app will tell you so, and will still be able to read and analyze the frame. The dashboard’s Overview ticks off each of the three connections (a seat in the plugin, an AI app, a site) as they are made.

Troubleshooting

The app says it cannot reach the server. Check the URL character for character against the one at the top of this page. Claude’s and ChatGPT’s connector forms reject a URL that is not https.

The browser window never opens, or shows an error after signing in. The approval page runs on the dashboard. Allow pop-ups for the app, and sign in to FigWP in the same browser profile. A sign-in that took too long needs the Connect step started again.

The tools are listed but every one answers “open the plugin”. The AI app is connected, but no Figma plugin is linked to the account. Open FigWP in Figma, connect it with your token, and keep it open while the app works.

The app stopped working after a password change. Changing or resetting the dashboard password disconnects every AI app on the account on purpose. Add the connector again.
