Install the FigWP Figma plugin
Add FigWP to Figma, paste the access token from your dashboard once, and keep the plugin open so your AI app can read the frame you select.
On this page
The FigWP plugin is the part of FigWP that lives in Figma. It reads the frame you select and runs the conversion in Figma’s own process, so nothing about your design leaves Figma until you ask your AI app to convert it. You install it once, connect it to your account with an access token, and leave it open while you work.
Install the plugin
- In Figma, open the file you want to convert from.
- Open Plugins (right-click the canvas, or the Figma menu) and choose Browse plugins in Community. Search for FigWP and click Open or Save.
- The plugin opens with one field: the access token. Leave it open and go to your dashboard for the token.
Get your access token
- Sign in to the dashboard and open Tokens.
- Click Generate token. The token is shown once in full and can be copied again later from the same page.
- Back in Figma, paste it into the plugin and press Connect.
The plugin saves the token in Figma’s own storage, so the next time you open it the connection is restored without pasting again. A token belongs to the account, not the file: it works in every Figma file you can edit.
What the plugin shows once connected
The connected screen is the whole plugin window:
- A bar with the link status (Connected, Working or Reconnecting), the pages left on your plan, and a gear that opens the account screen.
- The frame you have selected, with a preview and what the conversion will cost (always one page).
- The last three jobs your AI app ran.
- How it works, collapsed at the bottom. Open it for the MCP server URL with a copy button, the link to the dashboard guide, the FigWP Connect step and a sample prompt.
The link to your AI app, called Live Link, is always on. It starts the moment the token is accepted and reconnects by itself after a network error. There is no switch to flip.
Disconnect or change the token
Click the gear and choose Disconnect to forget the token on this computer. If the token is regenerated on the dashboard, or the account owner removes your seat, the plugin returns to the token screen with the reason.
Troubleshooting
The plugin says “Connecting to FigWP…” and stays there. It is checking a saved token. Wait a few seconds; if it then shows the token screen, the saved token was refused: paste the current one from Tokens.
“Verify your email” on the Tokens page. Tokens are only issued to verified accounts. Open the verification link from the welcome email, then reload the page.
No seat left. The plan’s seats are all taken. The account owner frees one from Tokens, under connected members, or moves the team to a plan with more seats.
