Connect a drawn form to a real one
FigWP never builds a working form from drawn inputs. Connect the design's form to one made in Fluent Forms, Contact Form 7, WPForms and more, or a Mailchimp.
A contact or newsletter form in a design is a picture of a form. FigWP does not turn it into inputs that post somewhere, because a form needs a plugin on the site to receive submissions. Instead, the drawn form is connected to a real form the site owner made, through the Essential Addons widget for that plugin.
Form plugins Essential Addons supports
| Plugin | How it connects |
|---|---|
| Fluent Forms | The Fluent Forms widget, by form |
| Contact Form 7 | The Contact Form 7 widget, by form |
| WPForms | The WPForms widget, by form |
| Ninja Forms | The Ninja Forms widget, by form |
| Gravity Forms | The Gravity Forms widget, by form |
| weForms | The weForms widget, by form |
| Mailchimp | The Mailchimp widget, by list (needs the API key in Essential Addons’ settings) |
The flow
- The form is mapped as a container and the page is converted and imported as usual. The drawn fields are plain boxes.
- Ask the app to connect the form. It asks the site what it has: which of the plugins above are installed and active, their forms and fields, and Mailchimp lists if a key is set.
- The app replaces the drawn form’s container with the matching widget and the form you choose.
- It styles the fields, labels and button to the design through the widget’s settings, and with custom CSS where no setting reaches.
If the site has no form plugin, or no form with the drawn fields, the app tells you to install one (Fluent Forms is the recommendation) and create a form with those fields. The drawn form stays a container until then.
Troubleshooting
The app finds the plugin but not the form. Create the form in the plugin first, with the fields the design shows, then ask again.
Mailchimp lists are empty. Add the Mailchimp API key under Essential Addons’ settings on the site.
The form widget looks nothing like the design. Styling is a second step. Ask the app to match the fields and button to the frame; it reads the widget’s settings from your site to do it.
