Convert tall pages

Frames up to 20,000px convert in one go, a section at a time. Learn how FigWP splits them, what it costs, and how to add a taller design to one draft.

Long landing pages are the normal case, not the exception. A 15,000px docs home converted whole used to run Figma out of memory. FigWP now converts a tall frame a section at a time and joins the parts into one page, billed once.

How a tall frame converts

  • A frame over 5,000px, or with more than 1,500 layers, is cut into strips of about 3,000px, always along a line that no layer crosses.
  • Each strip is converted on its own in the plugin, as if the frame were cut to that strip, so the plugin only ever holds one section at a time.
  • The parts are stacked in order into one conversion with one page reserved, at the frame’s full height.
  • Each request from your AI app converts what fits in about 40 seconds and then hands back a job id; the app continues from there on its next turn. Nothing is lost between turns.
  1. Strip 1y 0 to 2,940turn 1
  2. Strip 2y 2,940 to 6,020turn 1
  3. Strip 3y 6,020 to 8,880turn 1
  4. Strip 4y 8,880 to 12,000turn 2
  5. Strip 5y 12,000 to 14,990turn 2
  6. Strip 6y 14,990 to 15,395turn 2
  7. 1 conversion1 page reserved
Example: a 15,395px frame. Cuts fall where no layer crosses, so strips vary around 3,000px.convert_frame → get_conversion

The 20,000px limit

A single conversion is capped at 20,000px of design height. A taller frame is refused with a blocker before anything is read, and the app will ask you to split the design.

Only the frame's height counts. Hiding layers doesn't change it.analyze_design

To convert something taller:

  1. Cut the design into two or more page-sized frames, each under 20,000px, at a section boundary.
  2. Convert the first frame and import it as a draft.
  3. Select the next frame and ask the app to add it to that draft. The new part is appended after the existing content, ids that would clash are renamed, and a part sent twice is added only once.

Each frame is its own conversion and its own page on your plan. A page is charged when its part is imported.

Importing a big page

A page with many images imports in steps too: the draft is created empty, images are copied into the media library ten at a time, then the content is saved pointing at those attachments. A timeout or server hiccup loses nothing; the app resumes the import where it stopped.

What it costs

One page per frame, however tall. Credits exist behind the scenes as a size backstop (one per 10,000px), but at the 20,000px cap a frame never runs out of credits before pages, so you will not meet them. See Plans and pages.

Troubleshooting

The app says the frame is too tall. Split it as above. Hiding layers does not change a frame’s height; resize the frame.

The conversion seems to stop after a while. The app’s turn ended. Ask it to continue; it picks the job up by id.

The page is in one piece but a section repeats. Two frames overlapped by a section when you split them. Delete the duplicate in Elementor, or recut the frames at a cleaner boundary and convert again (re-importing the same page is free).
