Seats and teams
Everyone on a plan shares one access token and takes one seat in the Figma plugin. Learn how seats are counted, freed and moved, and what team members can do.
On this page
A plan has a number of seats: Free and Starter one, Studio three, Agency ten. A seat is a person using the FigWP plugin on the account. Everyone uses the same access token, generated by the account owner, and the plugin takes a seat for each person who connects with it.
How seats are counted
The first time a person connects the plugin with the token, they take a seat and keep it. Their name from Figma shows next to the seat on the owner’s Tokens page. When every seat is taken, the next person is refused with a message that says so.
Seats are counted per person the plugin reports, not per computer, so one person on two machines takes one seat.
Freeing a seat
The owner opens Tokens on the dashboard and disconnects the member under the connected list. Their plugin returns to the token screen at its next check.
Inviting team members
On Studio and Agency, the owner invites people from Team by email. A member signs in to the dashboard with their own account and sees the team’s shared token on Tokens, read-only. Only the owner generates or regenerates the token and frees seats. Pages, and the plan’s meters, belong to the team as a whole.
Regenerating the token
Tokens → Regenerate issues a new token and refuses the old one everywhere at once: every connected plugin goes back to the token screen until its person pastes the new one. Regenerating is available on paid plans. Free accounts keep the token they generated.
Troubleshooting
“No seat left.” The plan is full. Free a seat, or move to a plan with more.
A member sees the token but cannot regenerate it. By design: members use the token, the owner manages it.
Two people share one computer and one seat is taken. Seats follow the person the plugin reports, which on a shared Figma account is one person. Use separate Figma accounts for separate seats.
